Biggest mistake of your life.

What's your biggest mistake that you yourself have made?
I'm not interested in blaming others in a roundabout way a la I wish I'd seen that coming etc etc.
I am looking for a hold your hands up moment. An action you took that you totally regret. You can tell us what it is or you can just talk about it and keep it secret. Go on. Expel your demons.
I regret not succeeding in higher education. It's a long story. It will always hang over me.

I've just read your post Mrs. overall, that's sad. You really don't have anything to forgive youself for though. How were you to know anything was going to happen that evening and if you had've known of course you would've gone to see him instead of going out. It's obviously a very sad regret on your part but nothing to feel guilty about.
Oh-this is a great thread!...first for tigger....I am another oldie mum:had my daughter when I was 38...she is now 22. You do the maths-lol.....and it was less common then. It is never too late,hun,.........now to answer the question here. The worst mistake I made was when my sister died-it was after a week of visiting her in hospital back home in NY-she died in the early hoursof the day my hubby and I were coming back to the UK-I was anxious to get back to my daughter who was with her gran here in the UK...she was only 7 at the time and she was missing us. Consequently I had to make the snap descision to come home rather than stay on for possibly another week. That day was the last that I saw my mum......she had a stroke later in the year, and I couldn't get back to the US in time. It is something I will regret for the rest of my life...even tho at the time everyone said I was making the right choice.
Awww thanks Mrs_O and Pasta. xxx
There is also one other thing that I deeply regret involving my grandfather. He had cancer and I used to go and visit him every 2 days when he was sent home from hospital. He passed away on the night that I didn't visit and my mum said that he was asking for me that day. I think he knew he wasn't going to make it when he was asking for me. I was a stupid 18 year old who went out with her work mates that night instead of going to see her grandfather.
That regret will stay with me for the rest of my life.
