It was by Paper Lace,released on the bus stop label,only know that because my mum used to play it endlessly!

Paper Lace's wasn't actually the original though. An American group did it the year before (1973?) P.L. Can't remember the name of said group, but I'm sure it could be Googled easily enough. The original is a bit faster, and I remember thinking when I head it that the rhythm was a bit Drum and Bass-like! Or perhaps that's just me...
