I am temporarily disabled and am desparate to get my hair cut and coloured. However, I cannot drive for at least another month and am on crutches and live in a remote village so there is no bus service. I want to try out a mobile hairdresser. There is one advertised in our parish magazine but never having used her before and not knowing anyone who does, how can I be sure she will not ruin my hair as it is very fine and easily spoilt. Also, how do I find out if there are any other mobile hairdressers in the area?
I've tried googling but without much success. And none of the ones which came up had any feedback on them so I have no idea of knowing how good they are.
In my experience there are no guarantees with any hairdresser!
Mobile ones often operate by word of mouth or advertise in local newspapers...have you a local shop/post office/pub that you could ring to see if anyone knows a hairdresser?
This is a long shot but did you normally go to the same salon everytime? Could you ring them & explain your problem & ask if they know of anyone or whether any of their stylists do home visits? I know hairdressing is a very competetive business & they're not going to be happy about recommending competition but if you've been a good customer & intend to go back they might help.
Hope you find someone (it'll be a nice boost to get your hair done) & that you're back on your feet soon :o)
Am I right in assuming you have a regular hairdresser who works in a salon?
If so, why don't you give her a ring and ask her if she can do your hair at home as a one off, given your circumstances?
If she says yes - job sorted.
If she says no, she is bound to be able to recommend a good mobile hairdresser.
Thanks all for your feedback. I am somewhat reluctant to contact my regular hairdresser and was looking around for a new one anyway as they are a very expensive high street chain and I no longer feek I am getting value for the considerable money they charge. But I take your point about asking around. I don have a couple of hairdresser contacts in a nearby town who may be able to recommend someone to me.
