Gap years

I wish to go to Australia for six months to see my relatives so I would like to know the Law regarding leaving work for a period of time.

Would I be able to leave for say 6 Months and then come back to work without any problems, I should add that I have full time contract.

Have you tried speaking to Personnel or your line manager about taking a sabbatical? If there's a union in your work place, ask the union steward if s/he knows anything about taking a sabbatical
