Yes, but Sharon has a point, doesn't she? We get people like drug-riddled Amy W, or Pete Doherty, and everyone scrambles to interview them or shower them with applause. On the other hand, larger people still often have to run the gauntlet of ridicule, and you can't open a paper or magazine without you're flooded with pics of ultra-thin models or diet information. Hospitals are refusing to operate on obese people, yet so-called celebs can get away with being pictured with drugs and nobody seems to do anything about it - therefore making the situation seem acceptable. I think this is what Sharon meant.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the excrement on legs that is Mrs O, it IS more acceptable in our media driven society, to be a druggy or for that matter a criminal or simply thick (Jade Goody anyone?) than it is to be fat.
However, in my humble opinion, the alternative media attempt to suggest that "big is beautiful" is equally misguided and harmful.
Fat is simply not attractive and no matter how many "real" women tell you it is will not make it so.
I realise this is not a popular opinion but it is honest and however distasteful you find it, most men will agree.
I offer a story Dawn French was reported to have told some years back. She said something along the lines of...
"I found my daughter looking at herself in the mirror and I asked what she was doing, she replied, I can't wait until I'm as fat as you Mummy"
She told this story as a positive!
Am I the only one to see something wrong with this picture?
