hi i have got a dell lap top and i cant get the sound working...any ideas...... by the way i am computer stupid i dont understand any technical terms .... i have had a stroke and live 20 miles from town so it is hard to get help.. cheers

It may be just "muted". Do you have a picture of a loudspeaker in the bottom right corner of your screen next to the clock? If so, double click on it and make sure any tick box that mentions mute is left blank.

Also make sure that any volume sliders that are displayed are set fairly high. Your sound may be on but just quiet.

Have a look around in there.......................it's fairly self evident :o)

Try Start - Help, and Search for "Volume Control"

Windows Help is good and extensive and will walk you through all you need to know.

click the little + sign next to sounds/video/game
anything there?
