Down to the last two, would appreciate a little help,
No28, Which same word, used for the same basic reason in each case, can precede 'Fen' 'Glen' and 'Prairie' ?
No48. Which is the longest English word, derived neither from Greek or Latin,, that can be typed on a standard English typewriter with the right hand only, assuming the typist is suitably skilled ?

How thick skinned are you hobnail to post a GFQ question here!
I spent a whole day going through the dictionary to find MY answers. Why couldn't you. Of course these answers may not be correct if you look in OED.
AND spursfan and spacechimp could have given clues to their answers instead of handing answers out on a plate.

To All who are Jumping up and down over my asking questions on answer bank, I have not personally seen any correspondence from the organiser asking anyone not to use this medium, So what is all the fuss about ?. I do agree that questions should not be posed early on but I see no eason not to ask for a little help towards the end. And I Do object to being called Thick skinned !!!.

The Great Fun Quiz no 27 doesn't close until Friday 14th March and you hobnail are asking for the obvious answers that take more thought than the others .You still have lots of time to recheck these answers given but perhaps solving clues isn't much fun to you. For most of us it is.
No wonder there were more winners last month!!

Not END hobnail. If you think I'm clever to work out a few puzzles without asking for help well yes I am and rarely ask for anything. .Coming to the AB is a good laugh. I sometimes wonder what sort of education the Posters had!
NOT YOU in this case as you are a bit touchy.
I'm sure I've worked out that one of the replies given to you must be from the GFQ setter, so you have seen it in writing now. Don't ask on AB for answers to GFQ and GBQ then the Quiz is fair for all. END

Tallulah, Yes perhaps I am a little touchy, As at no time has it ever been brought to my attention regarding not asking for help on AB, I have been doing GFQ's for about 2 years and I have spent some time today looking back for anything from the organiser that asks for AB not to be used, to no avail, However I am sure that you are probably correct in what you say and further I think we have aired the whole thing fairly well, so I bid you farewell and hope your future 'Quizzing' is successful.
Best Regards.
Best Regards.
With regard to #33 - I did an Excel spreadsheet, put in a few formulae and et voila - the answer in less than two minutes (and I am no mathematician). Perhaps you could have done the same spursfan? I saw FOUR questions on AB the day after the quiz arrived - with four whole weeks to solve it. We still have 2 weeks to go so, why is it necessary to ask questions early or at all? Given that GBQers have been asked not to ask questions on AB perhaps the question setter would put it in his next newsletter to GFQers and then there is no misunderstanding? As he says, you ask a question on here, and given that you are given the correct answer, it is then in the public domain for us all to see.
2planks you've hit the nail on the head. Are the answers given in AB correct. I think not. And I don't care because I'm not using them and I'm not correcting for the people who want an easy life.
Someone said he/she had been doing GFQ for 2 years and still doesn't know the rules!
The carpet question was easy mental arithmetic (with use of pen and paper.) I'm not THAT intelligent as hobnail thinks
