try this link for weather info -http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/78 458.html

you can look at the history of the climate so just type in dates you want to go and look back over the years. will give you some idea of what you're in for!!
Stay well away from Puerto Plata? Went there last year for 2 weeks with my partner. Food was Awful and ended up eating out most nights in one of about 3 restaraunts? and even then the food wasnt very good. Not much to do in Puerto Plata unless of course your a golf head. However I would highly recommed Sosua, for a beach side, thailand esqe style holiday with nightlife and restaraunts and quite a lot to do. Please dont go to Puerto Plata you will regret it.
We will be of to there in bahibe (I think thats what its called) in may this year on honeymoon.

and as far as I know the rainy season differs from the north side of the island to the south.

But in general I think its a bit like florida in the summer.

You will get a downpour of rain every afternoon but it wont last very long and the sun will have its hat on again soon afterwoods.
