moving out at 16
4 Answers
i want to move out in the next couple of months because i cant take my family anymore.
its complicated.. but if i do move out [hopefully i do] i have plans worked out, living with my boyfriend and his family and contacting centrelink about payments, and staying at school. i want to get a good UAI and go to university to study journalism, so this wont affect my education.
im just not sure if i should tell my parents, or just leave. because if i tell them im scared theyll react terribly.
please help!

Why do you not speak to your head of year at school, they can perhaps give you some more in depth guidance in terms of speaking with your parents. Your school may also be able to refer you onto an agency who can assist young people such as yourself wishing to leave home.

Would your boyfriend's parents take you in without you having sorted things out with your parents?
If so, in my eyes that does not speak for them!
And how will you afford to live, or do you expect your boyfriend's parents to pay for everything you eat and wear, and need?
Whatever your problems with your parents are, they are responsible for you until you are 18.
Also I cannot imagine that they do not care about you and would be worried to death if you simply disappeared.
Not to mention what kind of explaining you would have to do when they involve the police in looking for you!
If you think you are old enough to live (more or less) on your own, then you should behave like a responsible person and clear this with your parents rather sooner than later.
Maybe your boyfirend's parents can help!
