At the risk of being a plaster bore, sand and cement, which our house has in abundance, traps water behind it if you have damp. Conventional plaster, which most people use on old solid walled property when they shouldn't, absorbs moisture, even taking it out of bricks. This ruins the plaster and doesn't do much for the bricks.
Not many plasterers work in lime. We will give it a go, but the company we are likely to have do some damp work will quote to redo the cured area in lime anyway. But we have other areas which need doing in lime.

In a previous job, I worked with a woman who was so quiet, and it was hard work to ever get any conversation out of her. My now best mate started working there, and livened the place up, but not this quiet woman. We'd just about given up on her, when one day she blurted out that she'd stabbed her ex boyfriend with a kitchen knife. We all (including her) laughed about it. Before anyone gets worked up - we weren't laughing at the man being hurt, it was more her suddenly talking and saying something like that. I didn't think she'd be capable of such violence.
