I'm decorating my bathroom and my son has just offered to help, seeing as hes taller than me (not difficult) he is gonna do the ceiling for me!

I have left him alone up there armed with a roller and a pot of white emulsion!

What can possibly go wrong????
Will my carpet, although covered up, survive the experience?

Hes 16 and like most teenagers! ive seen more life in a tramps vest! Will he half do it and then find his X box calling?
Do i supervise or leave him to it?

Whats the worst case scenario?
Bless him, im chuffed to bits actually that the day has come where he wants to help his old mum out around the house. :-)

I'm trying funky! ive not heard any crashes to indicate he's dropped the roller tray, the tine of paint or fell off the chair he's on! YET!

Now if i ask him to sand down the paintwork i just know he'll do a runner! :-)

right funky, Im taking your advice, kettles on, im chilled, seriously im chilled, i am honest!!!!! :-/
Leave him to it , doesn't matter if its not perfect and the carpet is ruined yiu will love the end result...........i hope!!
Aww unrulyjulie,

I'd leave him to it, he may surprise you! And so what if theres some white spots on the carpet or anywhere else, atleast he has offered to help when he could see you needed it :)

I bet youve secretly checked on him 3 times already havent you? lol At least hes out of that age of painting himself....... isnt he?
Jules, I'm sure you've taught you son well. Leave him alone, it would give him a chance to show you how responsible and reliable he is. x

well hes just shouted me up to take a look and hes made a great job of it! It needs another coat though so he's gonna do that too! I had faith in him really ;-)
Now, ya reckon i can persuade him to do the sanding???
Awww , well done to the lad , bless , he's come through for you , though you probably had faith and knew he would . I am impressed that he did it all in one go if his xbox was in sight . xxxxxx
Everyone has to start somewhere.

In a few years you will be admiring the house he bought at auction and renovated.
hiya, well how did he do then?

Im stunned you have a 16yr old son, you dont look old enough lol
If the worst comes to the worst and he does end up painting your carpet aswel as the ceiling dont worry because emulsion is water based and is easily washed off. Would take a bit of scrubbing the carpet but it will come out!!! Good luck and fair doos to you for letting him have a go!! My mum always said NO to everything and i really wanted to have a go at making some cakes when i was young or help mum to stir the mixture!!

why weeal, thank you for that but im not sure what the lol was for at the end though :-) Its frightening having a kid that age, i dont know where the years went. he's 17 in September. He towers above me as well! lol not difficult though.

taliesin, he did a good job with no paint spills anywhere. :-D Hes always been a bit cack handed when he does stuff like that, thats what was concerning me lol I guess he's growing up! :-(
Hi Jules, my son has never painted anything except the town red, he is 22, these last two days he has emulsioned 4 rooms in my new house, including a second coat, and i am so chuffed!!! he's done a great job and so i am amaxed and surprised and really pleased, but from now on the Xbox will probably regain his attention lol
