Take a look at www.gumtree.com Local traders advertise on there or you can advertise the work you need doing.

Where do you live ?
I am outside Liverpool and i know our council have..........A man Who can.......
if you over i think 50yrs of age,. or on certain benifits they send someone along. Maybe your council do something similar.
Another idea i attended a govt training centre a few yrs ago, and they were always looking for places that we could go to get practcal experience.
Check with your local college, a good place to go for a meal if they have a catering section. Get your car fixed if they have a workshop. Get your hair done in the beauty section or your garden or house if they run course.
They never let the beginners loose on the public, and work is always done well.
