New Zealand Ski Holidays

Hello! No matter how I type it into the Search Engines, I cannot find any company in the UK that arrange Ski Holidays in New Zealand! One of the most stunning places to go, not to mention they are in season when Europe and USA/Canada are out. Can anyone suggest where I can arrange my first ever ski holiday in new zealand??? Thanks :0)

When we went to Queenstown, we booked the flights, hotel and skiing seperately, so no idea on comparative costs or reliability.  Have a great time, it is wonderful!

Do as Bangkok says get there then organise your skiing after its simple and really cheap, car hire for a scooby 4 x 4 is dirt cheap and lift passes are really cheap and able to be organised on main street queenstown, that is if you are going to the south island. Try www.ski-express.co.nz for a guide and heli board on Mt. Cook Sth Island.

The best place to go sking in New Zealand is the South Island at about this time, I went to a place called Wanaka its about 30 miles away from Queenstown, less expensive and a lot more quieter.

Following on from bad11thebone....

I've also been to the South Island specifically for snowboarding (and bungee jumping) and I would highly recommend Wanaka as a basecamp. You can pick up really cheap accommodation at any one of the hostels available in the area, and I even think that there are a few swanky hotels too (bit out of my price range). The scenery is out of this world and the night life is plesent as opposed to wild (which is what Queenstown is like).

You have a choice of three areas to ski local to Wanaka. Cardrona (already mentioned), Treble cone (bit more advanced and has a snow park) and The Remarkables (part of which was used in Lord of the Rings as the walls of Mordor).
All are really easy to get to either by bus or car.
When I was there I booked up a bus ride to get up to the pistes for the first few days, until I realised that most people just stand at the end of the road and thumb lifts up to the mountains. So for the rest of the week I got free rides up there and back and had an excellent time chatting with the locals.
It really is a different world and I'm so jealous that you're heading out there.
