Metric System
I hate the Metric system with an absolute vengence ( got that of my chest at last)
But do any of you think that to go competly to the (poxy french ***** system) would help the nation and if so why?

In 40 or 50 years' time nobody will understand lb and oz. I hardly think the rest of the world is having their say - when you think the rest of the world discuss business/science (etc. etc.) in English. That by itself outweighs the inconvenience of using the metric system by far.
Absolute franco/xenophobic rubbish......'a fraction of the size of the earth'??...As has been explained previously, measurements in the metric system are linked so that, given physical constants other properties can be worked out.
The metric system is better- much better than imperial. Not only is it simpler to use and easier to understand but it is also far more flexible. As our numbers are in base 10 (damned arabs- what was wrong with the good-old latin system??) it makes more sense to use a system of measurement that is in base 10.
And if the French drive on the right as a reaction to the way we drive in the UK. How do you explain the US (former british colonies) driving on the right??
