Unwanted shortcut bar
For some reason, when I am online, an unwanted shortcut bar appears at the bottom of my screen. It then stays at the bottom of the screen even for non-Internet applications (Word, Excel, whatever). It has a number of single click links with titles such as 'Casino', 'Investing', 'Travel', 'Dating', etc. I do not want it but I cannot seem to get rid of it, because there is no exit button, no option to delete it if I 'right click' and it doesn't appear in my task manager. It is not a standard Internet Explorer toolbar, so opening the 'customise' options Internet Explorer does not bring it up for removal.
Right clicking has allowed me to determine it is probably a website which is designed to appear as a toolbar, since it has an address but, like I say, it does not appear in my task manager or in the 'windows open' boxes at the very bottom of the screen. The address of the infernal thing is:
http://lop.com/passthrough/newpass2.html
I was thinking the best way to rid myself of it, is to block this site? How do I block the site, or is there a better way of dealing with this problem? I would be most grateful for help!!

hi
yeah this is a piece of spyware called a browser hijacker. it just pops up on your computer and acts as spyware made by people who use it to make money. I would suggest getting some anti-spyware programs. Ive had that "toolbar" on my computer for ages ever since i got MSn messenger plus. Luckily i got rid of it, and all the other rubbish that came with it. :D
The security programs that i used were:
Spybot Search+Destroy, Ad-Aware 6.0, Spyware Blaster, HijackThis, and AVG virus Scan. See if you can get the free editions from websites somewhere.
Good Spyware Killing!
