super gluing your teeth back

I haven't used superglue but have used a crown repair kit from my local chemist.It worked pretty well and stayed in until I could get to the dentist and have it replaced properly.

i did it thirty years ago and it's still good. occasionally if i forget and bite something hard it might separate. but then i glue it again and it's good as new. i am not kidding; dentist fees are too expensive !

i can't see why it shouldn't work.

super glue was developed orriginally to glue wounds in flesh together.

If you need a temporary fix, i was told by my dentist to secure it with sugar free chewing gum - slightly less toxic than super glue I would imagine!

I didn't say it wouldn't work however if that was its intended use then dentists would use it instead of the expensive dental cements they use.
Its simply not biocompatible and to use it in this fashion can be very dangerous.

annnie0000 suggestion is much better but be mindful that an unsecure crown is an airway risk also never put a 'filling' back in

Hi MrXLA - sorry I did mean a crown, not a filling - doh!
Luckily I didn't need to do it - he recommended it when i had a temporary crown and was concerned it might come off. It was only small, so probably wouldn't have choked on it, but I certainly wouldn't be rescuing it if I had swallowed it!

I think superglue might be a poison. Loctite 745 is at least as strong as superglue, non toxic and withstands 120 degrees Celsius.

A friend of mie used it and the teeth are still holding after eight years.

He used it on false teeth. It might work on a crown but I would be going to see a dentist.

I had eight teeth crowned back in the early 80's, and have had two of them dislodged, both times by eating caramels.
My dentist replaced them both times very quickly without charge. Am I just lucky.
