Hi! We bought an LCD TV this weekend that was ex display, but when we got home and turned it on it has the image (screen burn?) of BBC HD PREVIEW on it as this was what was on the tv when it was on in the shops. WIll this fade or is it permanently damaged? Many thanks. Daffi x

Bearing in mind your limited time to return the TV under the sale of goods act before you are deemed to have accepted it I would be inclined to return the unit unless the suggested dynamic content clears the problem immediately.

I cant be sure about LCD but my Plasma tv has a whitewash option to eliminate "screenburn". It puts a solid white or grey picture on the screen for several hours and burns the entire screen so that no other previously burned image can be seen.
Any tv whether old CRT style or LCD or PLASMA will get screen burn if the picture is displayed long enough. I have a CRT with Screen burn from a CCTV camera. Apparently it takes about 6 months. LCD must be shorter. People only make a fuss about PLASMA because it can happen in a few hours. Take the TV back. It's Ex display, but they cannot sell damagad goods.
