kjmckinnon, I went to the website that you provided, i looked at the map on that website, and elko county is nowhere near vegas.  maybe you should check for yourself, just could have been something that was overlooked.  On a different site I also found the William B Weaver name and that he was killed in Tuscarora, which according to mapquest is 485.43 miles from vegas.  Help me to understand that please.

It doesn't say that the lawman was killed in Vegas it just says that one was killed over a poker game, that is how I read it, and that is the only lawman that was killed in 1880 over a poker game, but then if the questions were very easy they would not be able to tell who was searching and who was quessing.

"Usually, showdowns in Vegas end with a winning hand.  But in 1880, one ended with a dead lawman.  Name him."  Usual:  commonly encountered, experienced or observed.  Usually:  such as in common use.  Showdown:  an event, especially a confrontation, that forces an issue to a conclusion.  The clue only states vegas, and only references to winning hands because mostly card games (not just poker) are played there.  It doesn't mention any other town.  So, you basically have your option of answers:  Lino Valdez, he was killed in Vegas, in a confrontation about the keys.  Or you can go with William B Weaver, who was killed in Tuscarora over a poker game.  And a showdown is not quite the same as a pistol duel.

That web site that saustin77 has is postively stating that Lino Valdez was shot during a showdown. Camhead was right.
