cds keep jumping
3 Answers
Just recently all my cds skip/jump when I try to play them in the cd drive.
I've cleaned the cds and used a lens cleaner.I've tried playing them using different players(real player, windows media player, vlc).I've tried playing them with no programs running and "googled" for an answer but still no luck.
Any help much appreciated.

as they age ... the lense etc do get mucky ... but also the intensity of the laser reduces ...
you can take em apart and tweak (interesting if you are at a loose end!!)

but for a 20.00 or so you could buy another (or better a dvd burner).
the only thing that could stop you fitting a DVD is if it's quite an old machine

1 isn't old for a pc ... and it's quite young to be sporting a single CD drive.
there are only 2 solutions ... and you've already discounted one of them .... so the only one left is to buy a new drive.
repairs just aren't economic ... if it's out of guarantee
cd/dvd = 20.00 .... repair or fitting will cost 30.00+ - +parts
the only good news id ... yes a dvd player will also play DVDs
