Webcam on Messenger

Hi,
I am on Messenger and I have just installed my new webcam. My Q is is how to I use it on Messenger?

If you are using Windows live messenger, on the list with your contacts, on the far right at the top, there is a little notepad looking thing with a small arrow on it, if you click that and then go to tools, audio and video setup it takes you through settings for webcam, speakers and mic
