Our two month old Granddaughter has recently had a small operation to correct this. Is it quite common?

I'm not sure about common, but it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.. I wish her well.
I know 3 people who have had the op to correct it and I know 5 people who still remain tongue tied and that's just people who have either told me or have been around when discussing it. It's not very rare to my knowledge.

Hi Ripley! Nice to see you on a thread like this! x
Sorry LG - but to reassuree you, one of my sister's was born like this. It was only noticeable when she began to talk, and lisped, so she can a little incision made, and after that, had no more problems at all. x
