Problem with Documents on Vista
5 Answers
I am operating windows vista.
Although I am sure I have done nothing to cause this, when I click on START all those headings in the grey section with the small arrows next to them will show what folders are in them, but they will not show the sub-folders, then when I click on them they just close.
The same happens when I point to the little arrow in the bottom R/H corner and I click on Shut Down this again disappears and does't switch off the computer.
Can anyone please help because I cannot switch off the computer?

On your Start menu, just to the left of the small arrow in the bottom right hand corner, is a button showing a small circle with a bar across it.
If you click on that button it shuts your computer down.

Another way to shut your PC down is as follows:
Press the following keys down one at a time, keeping each key held down:
Ctrl then Alt then Delete
You should get a blue window that covers your desktop, with options like Lock this computer and so on.
In the bottom right hard corner of this window are some red buttons that allow you to shut your computer down.

To cure the start menu problem, right click the start button > properties > start menu tab > customize > scroll down quite a way and uncheck the box with a tick in it for " open sub menus when I pause on them with mouse pointer" ok > apply > ok That will stop the sub menus opening automatically, try that and see if it makes a difference
