Problem with composite cables

I got a new Pinnacle PCTV card and the cable channels are rubb--nning through it fine but I cannot get video to show through the composite cables I have, any ideas please? It's driving me mad, I can see no reason for the signal not to be picked up. I know s-video cables are better but these are what I have here. Thanks

Are these composite to composite cables? or Scart to composite? If scart to composite check the direction. They can be scart to composite or composite to scart.
Also have you selected composite as the source in the software.
