Neighbours Cat

My neighbours cat has decided that he likes our bedroom floor to sleep on. The neighbour has never shown any care or love towards this cat and he oftens climbs in our bedroom window (We are both ground floor flats) and eats my cat's food. I dont have a problem with him coming in and my cat has adjusted to him being in our house most of the day, but i object to him eating the food.
We have spoken to our neighbour but she doesnt seem to care. This cat is thin and is outside all night - hence why he comes into our bedroom and sleeps on my rug. He has even taken to waiting by our front door for US to come home and then walks to our bedroom window and waits for us to open it, so he can climb in.
What can i do about this cat. He is a lovely fella and i would hate to see him hurt or neglected.

Simple dont open the window.

If the neighbour doesn't really care there is nothing stopping you treating him as your cat.

Cats stay where they want to.

aww of course the poor cat is eating your cats food. As you have let him come in and sleep and shown him kindness he thinks you are now his human.

He is probably feeling hurt and confused if you don't let him eat your cats food :(

Poor cat is probably hungery so of course he eats the food. I agree with the others - I think you have found yourself another cat! Can you not buy some of the cheaper cat food for this one? I am sure he will appreciate whatever it is.

I agree with bensmum about buying some cheaper cat food for the adoptee (is that the right word? lol)

We have had 4 adopted cats over the years (didnt let them in the house cos we had 3 of our own but we fed them and paid them attention when they were around) we just got the cheapest supermarket own brand biscuits and they never left a one lol

We moved in to an empty RAF house, the previous occupants got posted to the US and they had to leave their cat with the people opposite.

As soon as the cat found out someone was in its old house, it moved back in.

The other people weren't happy but it chose us, not the other way round.

Did he not have a collar on? Or an ID chip? I have had immense problems with other people feeding my cat, who has a collar and contact name and number on it. He disappears for days on end, and i have found out that a couple gladly keep him locked up in their house and treat him as there own cat! Much to my annoyance, cats will go where there is food, but why must people feed them when they dont own them, i can understand if the cat looks undernourished or unkempt or no ID, but my cat hardly looks like a stray......this couple decided to phone me and told me they have had him indoors for a while.....i just simply said please dont feed him then he may come back to his proper home!

Adopt him! Your neighbour obviously doesn't care about him (why do some people keep animals...?) and your cat seems to get on with him, so let him stay. I would. K

Thanks guys. You've just told me what I already knew - just wanted to be told that I ws right i suppose.
Now I just have to persuade hubby that the cat is for keeps lol
DustyPuss, I don't have other option then to open the window, hubby is a smoker and I have asthma and we only have one openable window.
Roughquest, I had that very same thought about feeding him - I would be distraught if my cat went missing for days on end, when he does'nt come indoors in the evening, I have hubby and son trapsing around with torches and cat food looking for him! lol This cat DID have a collar and was (from what I was told) regularly wormed and de-flead, but for the past 4 months or so, he has looked like hes had neither.
