Citation for DFM

I have been trying to trace my family history for some time. My mums uncle was killed in WW2, and the family always assumed that he obtained his DFM for the action in which he died, but I have found thta this is not the case He was a F/O when he died and the DFM was only for ranks. So I would like to find the citation to find out how he got his DFM.
His name is Ronald Kenneth Stratford and he was with 640 squadron, He was killed in action 30th August 1944 over Denmark

I have seen both of those thanks ethel. He got no award at all for the action which cost his life. I may go to the records office in Kew to get a copy of the citation. If I find out I will let you know.

At least you now know he was awarded the DFM on th e16th November 1943, for gallantry and devotion
to duty in the execution of air operations.
