naomi's question re the Rainbow Quiz

Hi naomi. I've done 54 and am enjoying it.

A friend of mine who has done all 100 tells me that no. 73 is very weird in that the answer bears no relation to the clue, an answer which he got by sheer chance while reading a book.
When I asked him how he knew that he had the right answer in that case (!) he relented and said that were was some relation to the clue but that "there will be many complaints".
I naturally haven't the faintest idea what he is talking about (and we must make allowances for the fact that he is an actor), have you?
Has anyone else? But PLEASE do not give me the answer or even a hint.

Hi Chakka. Glad to hear you are enjoying this quiz, and even more glad to note you're not looking for any help. I will be very cross when people start asking for answers. (which won't be long!) All the clues are up to the standard expected from Rainbow, and 73 is no harder than any of the others. Enjoy, and remember you don't have to have all the answers to enter. I just know that a lot of people on this site will ask, and others will answer, and the quiz will be reduced to a lottery as usual, but I am happy in the knowledge that I was able to complete it in three nights with no help from anyone.

Well done, Ivorbiggun. I'm an old hand at this quiz having started with No. 3, fourteen years ago. Like you I don't understand those who come on here asking for the answers. They are fully entitled to do so, of course, but I cannot imagine what satisfaction they get out of cribbing.
And if one of them gets a �50 prize, having got the answers from someone else, will they give it back to the charity?

In the olden days I once got the �50 prize for a mere 98 and a half!

Hello Chakka I've done fifty-six - but I'm a bit dubious about one or two - and I have half of another one but not the vaguest idea of the other half.

I haven't got 73 - but it sounds even more daunting than it looks! I feel I really need to get that now. The gauntlet is well and truly down! Oh my poor boggled mind!

Good luck - and let me know how you're getting on won't you - especially if you manage to crack the dreaded 73.

I don't mind people asking for clues - I just don't go into any threads headed 'Rainbow Puzzle', so I don't see the replies. Each to his own. It's only a game.
