floating holidays?
my company have changed our contracts so now instead of floating holidays and some fixed holidays, we all now have permanantly fixed holidays ( no floating at all)
The MD apparently decided this after he was frustrated at arranging meetings and people being on holiday.
Can anyone tell me if it is legal for a company to make you have permanantly fixed holidays or not.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Whilst I agree with cheekychops, you should check your contract of employment as it may say something about holidays.My contract states that holiday is allocated on a first come basis, and a least 2 weeks prior notice must be given by the employeeof intended holidays. If my employer tried to fix my holidays, then I would at least expext a new contract to be drawn up which I would have to agree to and sign.
An old employer of mine changed our hours from 37.5 to 40 hours a week. I said our contract stated we worked 37.5 hours and he said you havn't got a contract you have a handbook.
Well with at least 1000 employees working there it went ahead and nobody seemed to be able to stop it.
Companies can seem to get away with things.
