Just curious, but we have had Georgian Edwardian and Victorian ages, since we have already had an Elizabethan age, in a hundred or so years, what will this era of Elizabeth II be referred to in historic terms?
Bernardo - I would consider post-war to refer to say late 40's early 50's although we could almost refer to any part of history as pre or post war - pretty undefining. Also, aren't we are now in the first half of the 21st century - and she's still knocking on?
Probably the 2nd Elizabethan age - I have heard the term used on radio already. I would prefer "The Last British Monarchy", but I certainly don't want to start an argument!
The Edwardian age refers to Edward 7th (1901 to 1910) when there was a period of Imperial splendour and optimism before World War 1; the Georgian age refers to the reigns of George 1st to 4th (1714 to 1830).
Thanks for the input, I think the 2nd Elizabethan Age sounds the most plausible. I imagine that if Charles becomes king, then we would then be known as a right bunch of Charlies!
