How long does this take, especially when the "other party" is meant to be sorting it out?
Because my other half said it would be sorted by the end of Feb, but nothing yet & I don't want to keep asking.

Also, does it cost anything?

Hope someone can advise.

Do you mean that your partner has said they'd petition for divorce and you've seen and heard nothing from any court or solicitors? So they don't appear to have done anything?

Hi fred. Well the ex. is meant to be sorting it out & no nothing has been rec'd from court or solicitors.
Sounds as though your 'ex' has not bothered to issue a petition. You can't force a spouse to issue proceedings. If you have the grounds, you can force the issue by starting proceedings against them.

Strongly advise you to start getting it sorted yourself. Why would you want your 'other half' to do it? You obviously have a story to tell yourself. Do not allow your 'other half' to only have his/her side of the story told. See a solicitor on your own behalf. I sincerely hope you don't have young children - because if you do you will cause them a lot of damage. And if you do, then sort it out between yourselves without involving solicitors. i.e. Stay married!!!!!!!!!! Marriage is supposed to be for life (and not just for Christmas).
