Messy Trifle !
8 Answers
She who must be obeyed loves sherry trifle.
Odd really cos she wouldn't drink a glass of sherry to save her life.
However I digress ( Only occasionally and with other consenting adults).
My problem, with trifle, is that when I add the jelly to the pre-soaked sponge bits and the fruit, it all mixes up together instead of staying in nice neat layers.
What am I doing wrong ?

Hiya Dewi
I make mine using jelly too - may not be the correct way but if that's what you like...
This is what I do... Put the sponge fingers in the bottom of the dish and pour over a good amount of sherry, on top of this put some fruit i.e. strawberries, raspberries or fruits of the forest, make the jelly in advance and let it semi set, pour this over the sponge and fruit then layer custard and cream - mmm mm..... I've never had any complaints.
