Hi all, could anyone please give me a clue to this question. I have googled - not very up on cricket - and looked throught books - so far have the initials either S or T for the snooker player - but am having problems working out the cricket clue. Will make a wild guess if no-one is able to help.
Many thanks
Jeanette

Might I suggest you show the clue, for those who don't do "Quizmail"?
The question is

"Take the surname of a former world professional snooker champion and add the surname of a swashbuckling 20th century cricketer for Middlesex and England and you make the names of a man who was the second person to hold which prestigious post in Britain?"
Dennis Compton was a swashbuckling cricketer for Middlesex. Does this help?
I have the answer if you want it.
So keep it to yourself. If you found it so can anyone. Not implying anything about you!
With respect podger123 I am getting fed up wi folk dictating to others what can and can not be posted regarding quiz questions and answers. If I choose to, I WILL post the answer which I know to be correct.

It may be that wi the clue given,jeanette1 will get the answer but if not, I will gie the answer.

Hi all,
many thanks for your responses. Tried to post earlier but couldn't for some reason. Will do some more research on Dennis Compton - must admit I like to find the answer myself if possible - but also know that my knowledge of specific subjects - like sport!! - is limited, so I do appreciate extra clues. Sometimes these extra clues enable me to look in a direction that I haven't thought of.
Thanks again,
Jeanette
