When Araucaria complicates the grid he at least makes the clues doable so that the end result is as hard as normal. Azed is throwing no lifelines!

I am a recent Azed puzzler having built up through Times, Guardian, Mephisto etc but this week I need help to get started!!!!!!

Can any of you with working brains give me some hints or answers or whatever you think will get me going.

Whitleather down the left hand side of the grid should get you going.

W hit l eather

Remember the grid is symmetrical.

I'll give it a bash but I am not hopeful. I have quite a few ready for when I can see where to place them but somehow they have all fallen in the middle so no help to get started.
