When is it too late in the year to ask a girl out? Because Christmas is the best time to be single, with all the parties and festive cheer. And you dont wanna buy a present for someone you might split up with a few weeks later. So when is it too late? Decmber? November? Valentines day?

if you like them, ask them out asap regardless of the time of year. what if they get snapped up and you miss your chance with what could have been the love of your life??

It's never too late, remember they will be buying you a present too and you can always drop hints about that present you have always wanted.  Just buy them something cheap, get the present you want and then give 'em the elbow on Boxing Day - then you are free to enjoy New Years Eve on the prowl for a new 'challenge'.

If I started dating someone just before Xmas or my birthday etc I wouldn't expect an expensive pressie, so if that's what's putting you off asking someone out now then I shouldn't worry.  In fact, in my experience, it's the desperate ones who buy expensive gifts when you've only been dating a matter of weeks.  Sounds like you can't be too keen on this person though to be thinking the way you are, so just enjoy Xmas being single and getting up to all sorts under the mistletoe.

Stay single til after Christmas - otherwise you've got that really awkward Christmas present situation where you don't want to seem too keen or too not-keen - what if you buy her socks and she gets you a weekend away, or vice versa?  Too awkward. Anyway, New Year's Eve is the ideal time to meet someone new, everyone's happy and over-friendly and you've got about six weeks til Valentine's Day (if you like all that schmaltz!!!), and you can get away with something little/standard then
