This is something I've always wondered, although most people will think I'm just being daft, but I'm being serious.
Do dogs and cats bottoms smell? People who have pets usually allow them to sit on furniture, obviously the animal's tail does not cover the anal area when it sits. I've always thought it looks unhygienic and any smells and waste matter would transfer to the furniture.
So, in all seriousness, do cats and dogs bums smell?
Why do you think dogs and cats lick their bums? They are probably cleaner and more hygienic than yours that is only wiped with a bit of dry tissue paper when you have dropped your friends off at the pool.
Also if you have ever studied a cat or dog's bumhole, they have a very effective sealing system which closes off after they have shed their load, not like ours, which gapes for all the world to see.
Don't know about cats. But, dogs can get a lot of information about another dog from the smell of its backside. Not something we are privy to. That is why a lot of dogs will sniff the nether regions of humans. I have often wondered what they learn from it.
well i guess there is really only one answer to this velvetee-
get down on your hands and knees and hae a good old sniff, then that way you can post to let us all know!!
Our pooch gets his feet wiped with baby wipes when he comes in - even if he has only been in garden or on the pavements walking - no street dirt ta! He also gets his ears wiped, (he is a sapniel and they trail through all sorts) his mouth, underneath from the endless weeing and his bum wiped.......needless to say as soon as he gets in he makes a run for it and hides under the kitchen table.
Not sure he is pampered or i am paranoid of dirty feet n bum getting on my bed...........though let 'him indoors' in it and he is probably worse than Jarvis..!!
He is definately spoiled though - i can't deny it.
As for the wipes, nice smelling pampers ones with Aloe Vera.......he is NOT impressed when it comes to being wiped..........if i have a towel ready for wet days its no problem he comes to me, soon as I rustle the baby wipes pack.........he's off. So a trail of Frolics is usually required....
Lankeela - Of course Jarvis - Cocker. Probably not the most original, but to be honest i don't know of any others in the town i live in.....it suits him...........and when he has mis behaved (which is most days) he gets the full name........************!!!!!!!!!!!!!..........
