I am currently painting my bedroom (Crown matt emulsion) and have been using Thompson's Damp Seal spray, made by Ronseal, on various patches. Despite my following the instructions on the can to the letter and despite the fact that the areas are supposed to dry overnight in readiness for painting, the first coat over the patches is still soaking wet after 3 days. Also wherever I've sprayed has become an area of white which shows through the paint however many layers I put on. Has anyone any experience of using this spray and do they know what I'm doing wrong? I'm up against a deadline for finishing the room and need to know what I can do quickly to make the areas paintable. (Ronseal say they've never heard of the problem and suggested I wait a few more days.)

On the other hand is it a condensation problem? Solving this is usually simple, somthing you are doing wrong + a lack of ventilation perhaps.
Remember the truth with most products is that they do not do what they say on the tin.
Well said Uriah Heep..........it sounds as though you may have leaky guttering leaving your wall soaking wet. A blocked downpipe or similar.
Get that checked out ASAP because if it freezes you could end up with structural problems.
If it`s simply condensation then strange as it may seem you have to ventilate the area while at the same time maintaining a reasonable heat. Water vapour [even exhaled breath] has to condense on the coolest surface it can find.
Good luck.
