Problem with MP3 player
6 Answers
I can put songs on my MP3 player up until it is about a third full. Anything I try to put on there after that brings an error message: "Error 0x80070052: The directory or file cannot be created" and I can't fill it up anymore!! Why? What is going on? How can I fix it? I have tried formatting it, using different files etc... can't think of anything else to do.
TIA!
TIA!

Nope, it's a Zen Stone Plus. I had a very similar one before this which I think may have been showing me the same error message, but when I transferred files to it and tried to play them it said 'no music' despite the fact that there were loads on there! To be fair though I had it for donkey's years and it had been put back together many a time after I accidentally crushed it! This one does play the music I can put on it though. I am now wondering if it's something to do with my new laptop? Same files and same method of file transfer though.
you could probably do worse than reformat it
it's flash memory ... so treat it like any other disc - the older the more likely to collect rubbish.
if musused and abused ... possibly a track has been broken ... but that shouldn't matter too much.
format it as fat and you shouldn't have a problem
if you have problems download this

oops .... wife says I never listen (you were talking about the old one).
a flash disc is like any other type of disk
and on reading the following it rang a few bells ... I've not used fat16 for ages now .... there is a maximum of 128 items allowed in the root - where are you putting the files?

For some reason that website wouldn't load for me but I put the error message into Google (something I could've tried earlier - duh!) and found out how to fix it!!
Problem was that my player came pre-loaded with a load of rubbish music so I formatted it (which seemed like a good idea anyway) to get rid of it all but when I did this the root folder got deleted. I was transerring all my files to the actual player without a root file, and of course it can only hold so much without one. So created a subfolder, put all the music in there, and presto! It works!
Thanks for your help :)
