Hoover 6 WDM 120 washer Drier which has been installed for some time ,we are having a problem with what seems to be the drainage ,there is a dreadful smell, we have washed out the u bend under the sink and the drainwater coming from the machine seems to be ok,but the problem is still there any ideas please.
THank you
Hi thank you ,The outlet from the washing machine is connected to the kitchen sink, which then goes into a u bend then out the wall into the exterior drain.
The only thing that might give a answer is tha we have started using Persil Liquid and not powder.
Kind Regards
In A Mo
I'm not sure the detergent you are using is anything to do with the smell. the first thingi would think of, is the drain. the water could be siphoning back into the machine. I would connect the machine to a seperate pipe.
in an ideal world each appliance or sink would have its own outlet but when they share outlets they can affect one another ,resulting in extreme cases like trap seal loss where the smells created by one appliance can travel up another waste outlet.
would,nt the liqiud v powder affect the inside of the machine rather than what flows out of it
i have the same problem with a sink and dishwasher but when i alter the kitchen later this year i shall provide separate outlets
We had this same problem and we found that there was no trap on the drainage pipe so all the bad smell from the drain was coming back up.If you think it could be your washer thats smelling try using half of a bottle of MILTON in an empty short wash, this will clean your washer and is not as harsh as bleach.Hope this helps.
