Since going on a yeast and sugar free diet, I've found that I do vast amounts of poo, which is very much the same consistency as a cow pat. This refuses to be flushes away, no matter what I do, until I have flushed the toilet around 5 times, each time chucking in a bowl of water to help it on its way. The fault doesn't lie in our cistern - it happens everywhere I go. This must be ecologically very unsound as it is such a waste of water. And it is a great inconvenience and embarrassment when using the facilities elsewhere. Any suggestions?
Sounds like you need to add roughage to your diet. Your poo shouldn't be like a cowpat, and even if it is, you should be able to flush it away! Up your intake of wholegrain foods, wholemeal bread, cereal (particularly bran) and dark green, leafy veg and salad.
Thanks for your advice, but I really do eat loads of roughage - muesli (unsweetened), nuts, seeds, grains, veggies of all shapes and sizes. I'm not eating fruit at the moment because I've been told to avoid all sugar, including that in fruit. There just HAS to be something else I can do, so if you've any more ideas, I'd be really pleased.
I have tried toilet paper. I've tried buckets of water. I've tried everything I can think of, short of taking off my shoes and kicking it down with my feet (and please don't anyone tell me that's what I should be doing!)
Hmm, if I were you I would get a stool sample pot from your chemist and take a sample down to the Docs. They will send it to be tested and will let you know if it is abnormal in any way. The Doc will also be able to give you advice on flushing!
