win 98 to win98se is it possible to download upgrade??

Want to load winmediaplayer 9 onto my win 98 machine but find that the download on works on win98se so my question is can i download something that will upgrade my machine from win98 to win98se...thanks.

I would think not, as Microsoft would want some money for that!

I would think your best bet is to buy a seconhand copy from e-bay, or even upgrade to a more recent OS, I recently bought a copy of Windows ME from Ebay, with the licence for �15.

I've had WIn 95, 98, 98se, ME and now XP pro.

Windows 98se is much like ME and I found 98se a reliable o/s. I do know for a fact that you cannot load 98se onto a pc that's running 98, it tells you that you'll need the uprade, not full version 98se. Going to ME or XP on a pc running 98 will work though.
