kb or mb

if i got a picture that is x amount of kb how do i make it that to go under 4 mb so i can post it on a certain site?

4 Mb? That�s absolutely massive for just a picture! Is it a yard wide? Even if it�s a bitmap (.bmp), it�s hard to imagine anything that size.

It should be saved in JPEG (.jpg) format, which gives a much smaller file size with very little loss in quality.

You can download several free programs from the web (such as Paint Shop Pro) which can convert it to a jpg.
