my 10yr old son wants to buy a psp, but cant afford a brand new one! Are we asking for trouble ??

The PSP has had several software upgrades since it was released due to older software being hacked and allowing copied games to be played. Newer ones have improved software that prevents this. I'm no expert on them so you would need to do your research first if you're buying second hand from ebay or suchlike.

Your best bet would be to try Game or Gamestation, they sell preowned hardware usually for a reasonable price - again do your research and see what you can pick up a new one for just to make sure. Preowned stuff from Game/Gamestation also comes with a guarantee so at least you do have some comeback.

you can buy 2nd hand psp on sale maket or some forums, sometiimes somebody want to sale his psp at a suiteable price.
