hi im using vista. my laptop will link to the internet no problem but when i try to connect to the internet through my destop pc i have problems.the belkin router is downstairs and the pc is upstairs (20-25metres distance) the pc recognises the router but there is no internet. signal is "very good". sometimes i get the message "unidentified network".

where is the wireless doodah plugged in ... front or back?

is the PC between aerial and router
it could well just be hidden from the router

i get a signal but it takes a while to get it. i have the same problem on the laptop even when its next to the router. could it be any thing to do with aquiring an ip address? it seems that when it wont connect properly it takes ages to aquire ip address

laptop is built in and pc has usb at the front of the pc
there are so many factors .....
you could do worse than download this prog

note if the laptop maintains contact...
