Can anyone tell me the value of a 'Joey'
I believe it was a slang expression for a pre-decimal currency.

Never heard of a 'Joey', we knew them as 'Arfurs' (Arthurs) as in 'Arfur Sixpence'

On the other hand, 'Thru'penny Bit' meant something completely different !!

Strictly speaking a Joey was a silver threepenny piece but the name certainly carried on to the 13 sided one where I was born (Kent), thanks for the added info Mum!
