Been Charged twice for petrol
3 Answers
Just whilst going through my bank statements, I have noticed that I have been charged twice when I went to fill up with petrol at the service station. The two amounts are different and I cannot remember which was the one I actually typed my pin to authorise. I certainly only typed my pin in once so how did the other transaction go through?
Do I contact the bank or the service station to take things further?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Happened to me a few years ago and turned out the bank knew there was a problem with a certain petrol station - they were running a scam and the police were building up a file to prosecute (the petrol station guys were running mobile phone top up cards through with every transaction and pocketing the proceeds). The bank immediately gave me a refund... and three guys at the petrol station went to jail. Whatever happens, the bank are best placed to advise you on what steps you need to take.
