Why is it that China has been allowed to get away with the horrific genecide in Tibet. The Chinese government have lied constantly with their progoganda. The Chinese have tortured , killed and imprisoned the Tibetans for years, and forcing steralisation on people who cannot pay the high charges forced on them by chinese officials. Why hasn't someone stopped this or is it because Tibet has nothing to offer the rest of the world so nobody really cares? What does anyone else think?

I've also seen the government police (as there are two different sections) with my own eyes beat the locals senseless for smoking weed and then roll a joint themselves and then try and sell to me what they stole from the locals. Also, although I haven't seen part this first hand, I have seen the scars from the machetes that they used on other occassions. But of course the locals could have been lying to me about the machetes which is why I didn't mention it first time, they could of course slashed themselves across the face.

I never said what I wrote I picked up in the media, I think you're taking this issue far too personally. I am not, and have never said, that you are wrong, only that Tibet is not the only place in the world suffering atrocities.

Natalie, the question wasn't about Gambia, Zimbabwe, Dafur or the other countries that do have problems and support being drummed up for these disasters but the question was about Tibet but clearly people do not think that there is a problem in Tibet. This is like me saying to you, no problem in Gambia, don't believe everything you hear! People are so blinkered when they want to be. In an ideal world we would love to help everybody and indeed there are governments and countries that could put an end to suffering but unbelievable that people don't think there is a problem in Tibet!
BUT NOBODY ON HERE HAS SAID THAT THEY DON'T CARE!

People are agreeing with you; there are problems in Tibet there is no denying that, but those who have answered are merely saying - what can we do about it? We could stop buying Chinese importaed products.... we could boycott the Olympics.... but how is this any different to other countries that need help from Western society?

Fair comment, that the question was not about African countries but you did ask what other people think, and I, amongst others, think that Tibet is not being treated any differently to any other country needing our help. I'm sorry for not answering the question how you wanted me to, perhaps you could try posting it in the News or S&C sections.

No that's right Natalie, they are not and you didn't. I was refering to a comment by someone called Mirela. The point being thus: just becuase other countries are shamefully suffereing, doesn't mean people should turn a blind eye to Tibet and wrongly believe the chinese are being wonderful hosts to them. Her comment - Slitty eyes?no, just sad ones. You have been and seen some of the atrocities first hand in these countries and so you know what goes on which makes it all the difficult when someone else makes out it is not happening. Good on you.
mirela didn't make the comment about slitty eyes, Myriad did.
Question Author
Natalie, it would seem even if you go there and see it first hand, people don't believe you or they try and say other countries are worse off so I wouldn't worry if I were you.
right, eyeshade, i thought this is a discussion board and everybody is allowed to have his/her words to say.
as natalie said, nobody on here said they dont care. my point of view is 'do not trust the media that easily', thats all. i didnt say just ignore it.

i am Chinese, i got both chinese and western education.i wouldnt judge for something i havnt seen in person. what i know is there is still long way for china to be a democracy country, u cant expect it happening in one day for such a big country with 1.3 billion population, the priority thing at moment is still how to feed those people.
Mirela, I have given up!! I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall - this is a pointless thread if you're not entitled to hold your own opinion so I am going to leave it again, but just so you know - you're not alone!
I thought I read in another thread elsewhere that you were Chinese, which is why I pointed out that Myriad made that comment, not that it was acknowledged.
well,to be honestly, the following part comments from you only can make me laugh. well, try not buying chinese products then, 1st it is impossible, 2nd, the harm u can make only affect innocent people of the world.

'''Most of the people you see in Tibet now are chinese not Tibetants as they are not allowed to have children unless they can afford the 1 child otherwise they are given steralisation, sorry forced to have sterilisation.

Panic Button is absolutely right, don't buy any chinese goods, they are most likely to be made by Tibetan prisoners who are tortured if they do not make their daily quota of toys. ''''
I didn't write that - well not meant from me anyway; I was trying to get across what other people had written i.e. that people were not disagreeing with her and had suggested ways of helping, but it obviously didn't come across like that :-S
thanks natalie,

that part i quoted from eyeshade's replies. (and what he/she said is untrue!!)
i agree with you. everybody has different opnion, if it is an open discussion area, no point to against anyone with her/his personal feeling.

also this sort thread better in news section anyway.
Question Author
mirela, everyone DOES have a right to their opinion on here, but that is not the case is it from what I have read in the last few posts. I thought from your posts you were not aware or blinkered as to the behaviour of the chinese in Tibet but your post below says that we shouldn't expect china to become a democracy over night. I AM NOT SAYING THAT! What I am saying is basically that china should get out of Tibet and stay out of Tibet. It wasn't theirs to start with and never was. The bit you say about the problem being is how to feed these people. These people fed themselves quite happily until their land, animals and rights were taken away.
