DVD burning

Can dvd's be burnt of films downloaded in avi. from an internet file sharing site onto a dvd? Or do they not have enough space for a standard film memory size. c. 700mb. Are there other problems?

700 mb ? a dvd can store more than 4 gigabytes(4000mb) so the answer is yes

i use a proggie called dvd santa - it converts it into dvd format and then burns it for you

Yeah but you have to convert them to a dvd compatible file.
I use a program called WinAVI, it converts almost any video format in anyother, including DVD.
