Delia Smith shops at our local Tesco and everyone looks to see what she's got in her basket ;-)

Chris
I sometimes hang my head in shame at the contents of my trolley in the supermarket. But what anybody nosing in my trolley would not be aware is that I use a local butchers and greengrocers and sometimes just do a stocking up shop - even if it is mostly junk! Doesn't mean to say I eat junk all the time. I live in the country, and whilst I'm not too far from the supermarkets I can't justify popping there all the time so I tend to have a stock of stuff in for 'emergencies'. Hey, and doesn't everyone have a cake emergency sometime?...............
I hate people that look down on you based on what shopping you buy, I know people that buy healthy food every week and eat out all week, they normally bin the rotton food that they buy.

I worry about the people who only have a tin of dog food and a jar of sauce in their basket!!!
Not so much worried about other customers seeing what I have in my basket, as the supermarkets themselves. If you are a Tesco Clubcard user then they will keep the information you "give" them when buying food with your Clubcard, and then they can make up a profile of the "real you" and send you information about certain offers you may "need". They also could sell the information to other companies, but I am sure they would deny that.

I find this scarier than a stranger just looking in my basket.
Mary T - how fat was the person with the 'unhealthy' basket? I have friends who complain about their weight and say that they eat healthy, the right things etc and when I bump into them in the supermarket it is laden with fizzy drinks, crisps, pastries, fried food and the rest! Stick to what you are doing and have a bit of the naughty stuff now and again.
I saw exactly that on the conveyor in front of me last week: several 2-litre bottles of a cola drink, loads of crisps, loads of chocolate and some pasties. When I looked, the couple (and their two children) were gigantic. But they did seem very happy, so who am I to judge? They don't affect me or any part of my life. But actually, oh yes, they did stink very bad too, as though they hadn't washed for some time. That's not anything to do with size though; I've been treated to stinkiness from skinny people too and every size in between. I guess the stinky issue should be a new thread.
Yeh i cant help havin a look at what others are buying - what makes me giggle is people that eat pizza and chips and junk food - and wash it down with a DIET coke!
what's the point?!
Oh yes of-course MaryT ...lol....I always can't help myself having a neb at the shopping in front of mine on the belt .:-D
Woman @ checkout becomes aware of drunk behind leaning over to examine her trolley. He says "you`re not married, are you?" She glances @ her contents (a weeks lot as she`s a career woman) but can`t see anything to bring him to that conclusion. "As a matter of fact I`m not, how can you tell"? He replies "because you`re ugly!".
My friend who is a health visitor becomes paranoid everythime she goes to tesco, as she also bumps into the mums she has as clients and she thinks they all stare at her wine and chocolate. she tells me that when she has the healthy stuff in her trolley, she never sees any....typical.
