Can anyone tell me what is the only animal with retractable horns please.  Possibly an insect but I think there is one that is an actual animal.

do snails and slugs count? they can retract their 'horns'.
well they are gastropods, so not insects, not sure if they count as animals
Of course slugs and snails are animals.  You don't need to be an insect or have legs or anything to be an animal; you just have to be an animal (rather than a plant, fungus, bacterium, etc.).  Snail sounds like the best answer so far to the original question.

There is a caterpillar called the gold rim swallowtail caterpillar that has retractable horns
