We need it so that the government can condition us to be the little 'on-message' automatons they'd like us to be.

Well, there is also the socialisation aspect and as the child labour laws have rules out the possibility of legally sending a child to work once it can walk, school also saves on paying for childcare & has a significant impact on the infanticide/matricide/patricide/sibling murder rates

I think it is a little social conditioning saxy but I just wonder whether socialising outside of school happens anyway. If you are one of those who are generally intelligent but fail at exams does that mean schooling didnt work anyway?

The old story about how much of what you are taught is used when you leave school is true to some extent for the majority of the population isn't it?

I feel that after leaving education after 13 years I have been educated well. I don't feel as if I or my friends are bad outcomes of compulsory education.
