I always burn my fingers when I try to get crumpets out of the toaster; when I went to use a knife to hook them out my mum yelled at me, called me a daft mare (or words to that effect) and said that I would end up electrocuting meself.

So, what do you use to hook crumpets out of the toaster without burning your fingers? And why hasn't a crumpet hooker been invented? Is there anything else that you can think of that should be invented but hasn't. Or maybe it has and I don't know about it yet.

or just get one with a crumpet attachment that sits on top, or just grill them

I have given up scoring because I can't keep up! LOL

Dundurn, that really made me chuckle - I try exactly the same thing! Also, if you lift the toaster handle as far up as it will go sometimes you can manage to get them out without burning yerself, but if it is a slightly smaller crumpet, or, as you say, there is a vacant slot beside it, then the crumpet just rolls along.

I've never seen a crumpet attachment, I thought that wire thing to go over the top was for reheating things?
well I use it but then I dont like my crumpets too done. But I tend to go for leaver trick to make crumpets fly up :-)
Dundurn I think you are just showing off a ( four slot toaster )

Dundurn, your description of breakfast time dilemmas really cracked me up!

natalie, please don't electrocute yourself! Invest in the tong-y things. Sure you can get them somewhere like Wilko's too, at about 1/4 of the price of Lakeland!

I think someone needs to invent a Sock Knight: someone who would slay the Sock Monster and ensure that our socks stay in pairs. Of the same type! x

i do the same Nat have done for ooooo roughly 20 odd years and i've not electrocuted myself yet, god i feel old now
